The Dolphinettes synchronized swimming and water ballet group was formed in 1961 under the leadership of Maryalis Klicker. Participants numbered about 30 women and young girls. Ninety minute musical shows were put on in the Applegate Memorial Swimming Pool at the YMCA on Spokane Street. Routines were given in costume with themes like the Gay 90s, the Roaring 20s, Western cowgirls, water colors, and Siam and the King and I enhanced by underwater lighting and poolside dancing.
