ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Lighting + Design, a home lighting business of over 60 years, is back open in a new location with a cafe inside.

The business opened at 444 S. Pickett Street in the West End. A ribbon cutting was held Thursday afternoon.

At the new location, the expanded fixture showroom has ceiling fans, chandeliers, wall lights and multi-systems, exterior and landscape lighting, table and floor lamps, furniture and home accents on display. The showroom also contains Electric Cafe, designed to be a meeting place for architects, interior designers, builders, contractors and clients. The European-style cafe serves Compass coffee and espresso, baguette sandwiches, macarons, beer, wine champagne and caviar. For a limited time, Electric Cafe is offering $1 cups of coffee in signature yellow mugs.

Alexandria Lighting's old location was 701 N. Henry Street, where Avanti Holdings Group is pursuing a 94-unit multifamily residential building with ground-floor retail potential and underground parking, replacing the commercial building and warehouse. City Council gave the project approvals in July 2020, but Alexandria Living Magazine's development map indicates the project is still in planning.

Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Curbside pickup and free local delivery are offered. Free garage parking is available for customers behind the building.
