Home News By Garrison Hullinger September 13, 2022 in News By Garrison Hullinger As the weather starts to cool down, fall is a great time to consider a remodel to help spruce up your space in time for the holidays. With that in mind, I wanted to share my top 3 remodel/design tips. Bathroom Plumbing Fixtures: When remodeling your bathroom, try to maintain the current locations of existing plumbing fixtures, particularly for toilets and showers. Relocating these fixtures can get very expensive, especially if the bathroom is located on a second floor or on a slab foundation. Flooring Material: Many homes have inconsistent types of flooring throughout the various rooms; linoleum in the kitchen, carpet in the living and dining rooms, and tile in the foyer. Removing all of these different materials and replacing them with a single style flooring adds continuity and beauty to a home. Lighting: There are so many options for lighting and the preferences and objectives vary from room to room. In your kitchen, it’s important to have appropriate task lighting, whether it’s a recessed can light over a prep counter or a dropped pendant over a sink. For a bedroom, flush-mounted ceiling lights work great, then layer with lamps on nightstands. For your bathroom, overhead lighting is a must but it’s also important to include lighting from the wall to light-up faces.
