The Qik-N-EZ chain of gas stations/convenience stores is planning to remodel its Monroe Street location, giving a complete overhaul to the aging facility.

The chain's parent company, Chronister Oil, applied May 3 for a commercial remodel permit with the city. The company plans to install new siding and exterior lighting and a refurbishment of the interior is also planned, with new countertops and upgraded walls.

Both the interior and exterior will receive a new paint job, with the 1995 W. Monroe building receiving upgraded heating, air conditioning and electrical systems.

Chronister is enlisting the help of Evan Lloyd Architects to design the upgrades, with J.C. Restoration being contracted to perform the job.

No timetable has been set for completion of the project. The company did not respond to comment when asked about the project.
